Bridlington town centre is set to have a new community hub.
It is being run by East Riding Voluntary Action Services and it has been funded for five years by the National Lottery's Community Fund.
It is going to be open for residents, organisations, businesses and charities to use.
Sarah Hartley is the centre co-ordinator at the hub and said:
"We have a suite of offices that are attached to this building and it's the provision of those offices that allows us to bring in agencies that work with people. So we're going to have a number of organisations offering support, services and advice to the general community.
"The other thing that we're working towards as well when we get to full removal of lockdown is to have a facility where people can just drop-in. We're going to be a one stop advice shop for information and support across a range of issues, even if it's just about what's on in the area in terms of activities.
"There's a big role for the community as we move forward through this. For the last couple of months I've been actually just getting the property ready for purpose. We will be looking for volunteers to do various tasks for the hub. I'm more than happy to even just get an email with a list of ideas as to what people want within this building.
"People want to see somewhere to just go when you didn't know an answer to a question, those drop-in services. I think this is going to be the only counselling room that's available in the area, and a whole range of activities. People are saying there's a lack of activities in the area and people that provide activities say that there's a lack of places where they can deliver those.
"For a lot of people it's about having that space where they can just meet up. There's going to be free wi-fi there and we're going to be able to open the facility so people can just drop-in, meet their friends, have a catch-up on their emails, have a cup of tea and that's a little way in the future but that's part of the plan."
The new community hub will be based at Bridlington Town Council on 2A Marshall Avenue.
