A further 16 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Scarborough, in the last 24 hours.

It brings the borough’s total since the start of the pandemic to 954.

The new daily figures are a drop of 10 from the 26 which were added on Monday.

Today, a mobile testing facility will be in Scarborough at the Seamer Road park and ride site, before arriving in Whitby at the Guisborough Road park and ride site tomorrow.

The testing has been organised by the Department of Health and Social Care which has warned people to not just turn up, but make an appointment first.

There are two ways to do this, depending on which testing group you are part of.

Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.

Tests can be booked at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
