More advice for visitors to York and Scarborough hospitals

Anyone with a cough, cold or sore throat are being told not to visit York and Scarborough Hospitals.

Health bosses have issued a plea for those with a respiratory virus infection to stay away - as covid cases continue to rise.

Visitors and patients are also being urged to wear a face mask.

When logging onto the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust website, visitors are greeted with this following advice:

Advice for patients and visitors

You should not visit our hospitals if you have symptoms of a respiratory virus infection (e.g. sore throat, runny nose, cough, fever).

Due to the rate of COVID infections rising in the hospital and community, patients and visitors must wear a surgical mask or face covering from entering Trust premises. Masks and hand hygiene facilities are available at the entrances.

Visiting COVID wards

Visiting is allowed on the COVID wards at the visitor's own risk. Visitors will be asked to wear a surgical mask and adhere to good hand hygiene practice.
