Man dies after falling from the window of a property in Scarborough

A man has died after falling from a window of a property in Scarborough.

It happened last night (Thursday 4th November) at around 10.45pm, when police were called to a report of a confrontation involving two men on Pavilion Square.

North Yorkshire Police said:

"As officers were attempting to engage with a man, aged in his 40s, he is believed to have fallen from a window in the property.

"Officers provided medical attention while the ambulance service arrived. However, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Following any serious injury or fatality where there has been contact with the police, a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is required.

"We will work closely with the IOPC and ask anyone with information about the incident to contact North Yorkshire Police by calling 101."
