BREAKING NEWS: Man due in court after serious assault in Scarborough

A police helicopter was used in the search for the 23 year-old on Friday night.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault in Scarborough. The incident took place on Falsgrave Road at 11.30pm on Friday night (10 December 2021)

Police were contacted by members of the public, who were reporting an on-going assault, involving a man and a woman.

Officers attended immediately, but the male suspect had fled from the scene of the incident. A number of police resources, including the police helicopter, were tasked with searching for the suspect.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning (11 December). He was this morning charged and has been remanded in police custody.

He's due to appear in court tomorrow.

Police are keen to stress there is no wider threat to the local community and are requesting the public’s assistance, to help establish the full circumstances.
