A man has been taken to hospital following a dog bite at Malham National Park.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation after the incident took place on April 3rd at the national park's visitor centre.

In the incident, a man had been attending the centre in the morning of April 3rd when he was attacked and injured by a dog belonging to another visitor.

The breed of the dog involved in the incident is believed to be a short-haired Alsatian-type dog, but the specific breed has not been determined.

The man was taken to hospital a short time later, where he was checked out by doctors for the wound to his leg, but was released a short time later.

North Yorkshire Police are now appealing for a key witness - who passed the car the dog's owners were travelling in - to come forward.

The vehicle the dogs owned was a silver/grey panel van, with the witness appearing to drive past the car to reach the victim and those around him.

Anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident is being urged to get in touch as quickly as possible.

Those who could help in the investigation can get in touch by calling 101 and asking for PC Ben Robinson-Brockhill, with the incident reference number 12250058588.
