Love letters dating back to the Second World War have been found in a Scarborough hotel.

Owners of the Esplanade Hotel have discovered a stash of notes sent between two lovers - while doing some renovations.

One was signed by a woman - saying 'Yours forever M'.

General Manager - Lawrie Simpson - tells us more:

"We opened the floorboards up, and the maintenance team and the contractors came down straight away to the office.

"The showed up what they'd found, and straight away this letter was incredibly exciting.

"We actually had 3 pages of this letter, which had been written by a woman from Motherwell.

"It was written to a guy called John McConnell, who was a sergeant in the RAF.

"It's just a really nice piece of correspondence, and we also found a pencil letter, which was his reply!"
