People in Scarborough are being made aware about a community support group if they need someone to talk to.

'Speak Out' is for those who have mental health issues or a disability.

It's a chance for people to talk about their problems especially duing the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.

Founder Helen Speak said:

"Our members have doubled since lockdown started. We now have over 1.2k and not only that, but we've also hit 3,500 Facebook friends who we also support.

"From the feedback that people have come back to us and said is that it's a godsend and a lifeline.

"It's really, really important to have groups like this running normally, before lockdown, but even more so now.

"Some of the worries and concerns people have been coming to us with are about isolation, money worries, their kids, Christmas, school and just the general uncertainty."

She has this advice:

"Do the normal things that you do, like exercise, a good diet and get out for a walk because we know you can't go out to the gym but just go out for that walk and openly talk to people. Use support networks that are out there."
