A further 424 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire as of Wednesday, February 16.

The Government’s latest rolling figures, updated today, show the number of infections recorded across the region was 1,562 for Hull and 1,749 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Friday, February 11, the latest with weekly data available.

A total of 54,218 new coronavirus cases were recorded nationally today, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 18,447,706, with 199 new deaths recorded, making a total of 160,038.

The figures come as Health Secretary Sajid Javid said today that the vaccination rollout would be extended to all five to 11 year olds.

It also comes as a study published in the PLOS Medicine journal suggests the impact of the pandemic has been more unevenly spread between deprived and affluent areas than previously thought, with the North West losing three times more years of life than the South West.
