Latest Coronavirus figures for Hull and East Riding

A further 1,860 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire, as of yesterday (Monday, January 10).

The Government’s latest rolling figures, show the number of infections recorded across the region was 5,728 for Hull and 7,198 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Wednesday, January 5, the latest with weekly data available.

The latest Wellcome Sanger Institute data shows Omicron accounts for up to 92.5 per cent of new cases in Hull and 97.8 per cent in the East Riding.

The figures come as 142,224 new coronavirus cases and 77 deaths were recorded in a day nationally at the latest count, with 17,120 patients being treated in hospital.

They also come as ministers and officials are reportedly weighing cutting the current isolation period from seven days to five, as health services and industries across the economy continue to be dogged by staff shortages.

Hull: 61,201 (+807) 
East Riding of Yorkshire: 69,682 (+1,053) 

The number of people being treated in hospital in Hull and East Riding as a result of Covid:

In hospital: 94 (+ five from Friday, January 7) 
In intensive care: four (no change from Friday, January 7)

Snaith (3,583 cases per 100,000 people) 
Ings (3.156.7 cases per 100,000 people) 
Kingswood (3,099.3 cases per 100,000 people) 

The local areas with the lowest Covid rates are:

Sculcoates (1,218.6 cases per 100,000 people) 
Bridlington North and Bempton (1,361.5 cases per 100,000 people) 
Bridlington West (1,375.4 cases per 100,000 people)

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new deaths, and deaths removed from the total following revisions to past data, in brackets.

Hull: 750 (no change from Friday, January 10, up two weekly to Friday, December 24 to 821 with coronavirus on death certificate)) 
East Riding of Yorkshire: 892 (up two from Friday, January 10, up four weekly to Friday, December 24 to 1,017 with coronavirus on death certificate) 

Vaccinations:

Government data up to Sunday, January 9 shows that in the UK, 135,357,499 jabs have been given so far, 51,974,605 first doses, 47,718,730 second doses and 35,664,164, boosters.

The local data shows:

Hull: First dose 188,343 (77.4 per cent), second dose 171,377 (70.5 per cent), booster 122,620 (50.4 per cent)

East Riding: First dose 282,223 (89.6 per cent), second dose 265,499 (84.3 per cent), booster 217,223 (69 per cent)
