A further 1,131 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire, according to data from yesterday (Thursday, January 20).

The Government’s latest rolling figures show the number of infections recorded across the region was 2,998 for Hull and 3,393 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Saturday, January 15, the latest with weekly data available.

National figures show 107,364 cases were recorded across the UK, bringing the total to 15,613,283 since the pandemic began.

The figures comes as rules brought in late last year to curb the surge in cases due to Omicron, dubbed ‘Plan B’ measures, are set to end in England next Thursday.

But the NHS Confederation said after Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s announcement that it would put hospitals under renewed pressure, with a major incident declared for Hull’s health and social care services yesterday.
