Latest Coronavirus data for Hull and East Riding

A further 1,764 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire.

The figures are for yesterday (Tuesday, January 4).

The Government’s latest rolling figures, show the number of infections recorded across the region was 3,841 for Hull and 4,797 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Thursday, December 30, the latest with weekly data available.

Data also showed there were 11,549 confirmed Omicron cases in Yorkshire and Humber, up by 727 in one day, with a further 59,909 probable cases being tested as of Friday, December 31.

The figures come as Prime Minister Boris Johnson told a press conference this evening that the NHS was now on a war footing in its efforts to tackle the coronavirus surge.

But he added there were no plans currently to beef up restrictions but 100,000 workers in critical industries will be told to take daily tests amid worsening staff shortages.

The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets:

Hull: 56,912 (+833) 
East Riding of Yorkshire: 64,302 (+931) 

The number of people being treated in hospital in Hull and East Riding as a result of Covid:

In hospital: 77 (+18 from Monday, December 27) 
In intensive care: four (+one from Monday, December 27) 

The local areas currently worst affected by Covid are:

Kingswood (2,419.2 cases per 100,000 people) 
Sutton South (2,284.3 cases per 100,000 people) 
Ings (2,202.3 cases per 100,000 people) 

The local areas with the lowest Covid rates are:

Sculcoates (511.4 cases per 100,000 people) 
Bridlington Hilderthorpe (758.7 cases per 100,000 people) 
Boulevard and St Andrews Quay (903.6 cases per 100,000 people)

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new deaths, and deaths removed from the total following revisions to past data, in brackets.

Hull: 747 (up seven since Monday, December 27, up six weekly to Friday, December 17 with coronavirus on death certificate) 
East Riding of Yorkshire: 886 (up four since Monday, December 27, up seven weekly to Friday, December 17 with coronavirus on death certificate) 

Vaccinations:

Government data up to Monday, January 3 shows that in the UK, 133,667,427 jabs have been given so far, 51,820,652 first doses, 47,482,789 second doses and 34,363,986 boosters.

The local data shows:

Hull: First dose 187,758 (77.1 per cent), second dose 170,730 (70.1 per cent), booster 117,834 (48.4 per cent)

East Riding: First dose 281,709 (89.4 per cent), second dose 264,683 (84 per cent), booster 210,990 (67 per cent)
