Today is the last day of 'The Big One' climate protest in central London by coastal communities worried about flooding and activist groups.

It has been taking place for the past three days to encourage the Government to take further action to tackle climate change.

Theresa Norton is from Scarborough and is part of the movement who would like to see change. She said: "It's a shame that people only want to address the climate emergency when it's affecting them personally in their area. The thing about the climate emergency is that it's very real and it's happening now. It's just because it's happening mostly in the southern hemisphere.

"Just because we don't see it, it's very easy to not think about it however last year it did hit us last year for the first 40 degree Summer that we have seen in the UK, and even that small window of overheating causes an excess of something like 3,000 deaths.

"Indirectly a lot of things are linked. I think there are a lot of people struggling to pay their energy bills and we know for a fact that if those homes were insulated and there were Government intentions to insulate perhaps 12 to 15 years ago, but all these different programmes were dropped.

"The Government will not listen if it's just a small number of people. They will listen if hundreds of thousands of people putting pressure on the Government. One of the biggest demands is no new fossil fuels. Please stop granting new oil and gas licenses."
