Woman doing 3,000 mile climate cycle to reach Scarborough today
Kate Strong is going around mainland Britain
A woman who is cycling 3,000 around mainland Britain will be in Scarborough today.
Kate Strong wants communities, organisations, charities and councils to help mitigate climate change.
She is hoping to inspire the nation into action and said: "I have to believe that I'm going to make a difference otherwise I wouldn't be doing it. I'm already seeing a ripple. I've met with three or four projects, I've talked with the local council and they're taking on board ideas but moreover, I'm connecting different communities and I think it'll create much more acceleration.
"I've never been to Yorkshire before and I've never been to Scarborough. I'm really looking forward to visiting it. I'm making so many great friends and hearing the small stories like how the backyard is being transformed and I'm just loving the people I'm meeting.
"I have not had a day where I haven't had someone cycle with me and every day there's a few people. I'm really blessed and grateful for the support I'm having that I'm not doing this alone from the first minute to here. I can only think it's going to get bigger because you guys are going to roll out the bikes as soon as I arrive.
"It's the small differences and we can all make a change and it can be as simple as switching our car to a bike for 50 percent on our rides. It doesn't have to be all or nothing, we can start making that shift and together we will make that difference."
