Humberside Police is reminding people in the East Riding it is their last chance to apply to be a Special Constable.

Humberside Police is reminding people in the East Riding it is their last chance to apply to be a Special Constable.

The cut-off point for application in its latest recruitment drive is Sunday (9th May) for those who want to volunteer with the force.

You have to commit to a minimum of 16 hours a month after an initial training period of around a day each weekend for 6 months.

Duties performed by Specials are varied, but you can expect to be:

  • Carrying out high-visibility foot patrols to deter and detect criminals.
  • Confronting anti-social behaviour on the streets such as gangs or intimidating behaviour.
  • Presenting evidence in court to support the justice system in prosecuting offenders.
