The team have been engaging with students on and off campuses
As part of fresher’s week, Humberside Police are giving out advice on how to stay safe.
This year they have brought in some new initiatives following the murder of Hull student Libby Squire.
Detective Mark Peasgood, Neighbour Inspector at Humberside Police, said:
“The very sad case of Libby keys in the forefront of everyone's mind still, we've added several items to our agenda and our program with partners to make sure their messages loading clear.
“We’re doing daily surgeries within the university campus, were patrolling the area and speaking to students. Some of the other stuff we've added is around personal safety, imports and how to deal with conflict – helping them to get out of situations.
“It's obviously really important to stick within your friendship group checking on each other. Make sure they get home. You make sure their welfare through the night is safe as well.”
