Further 919 people with coronavirus across Hull and the East Riding

A further 919 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire today (Wednesday, February 2).
The Government’s latest rolling figures, updated today, show the number of infections recorded across the region was 2,951 for Hull and 3,428 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Friday, January 28, the latest with weekly data available.
A total of 88,085 new coronavirus cases were recorded nationally today, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 17,515,199, with 534 new deaths recorded, making a total of 157,409.
The figures come amid reports the Government is planning on scrapping daily updates of coronavirus figures by April as part of plans to live with coronavirus.
It also comes as school leaders warned MPs headteachers feeling scapegoated during the pandemic for issues in education could lead to shortages of people able to fill the posts.

Hull: 781 (up three from Tuesday, February 1, up five weekly to Friday, January 21 to 840 with coronavirus on death certificate)
East Riding of Yorkshire: 926 (up five from Tuesday, February 1, up 11 weekly to Friday, January 21 to 1,041 with coronavirus on death certificate)

Government data up to Tuesday, February 1 shows that in the UK, 138,220,429 jabs have been given so far, 52,373,222 first doses, 48,467,140 second doses and 37,380,067 boosters.
