Further 851 people with coronavirus across Hull and the East Riding

A further 851 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire today (Monday, January 17).
The Government’s latest rolling figures, updated today, show the number of infections recorded across the region was 3,607 for Hull and 4,026 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Wednesday, January 12, the latest with weekly data available.
The latest Wellcome Sanger Institute data shows Omicron accounts for up to 92.5 per cent of new cases in Hull and 97.8 per cent in the East Riding.
The figures come as Prime Minister Boris Johnson is reportedly considering scrapping coronavirus self-isolation laws after the period was cut from seven to five days today.
They also come as 84,429 new cases and 85 deaths were recorded nationally in the last 24 hours.
