Hearing on whether to grant licence to proposed new bar in Scarborough
There are plans for a wine bar at the vacant William Hill on Falsgrave Road.
A hearing is to be held on whether to grant a premises licence to a proposed new bar in Scarborough.
J N Corner Property Ltd wants the licence for the vacant William Hill unit at 1-5 Falsgrave Road.
The new wine bar, which would be called Ont Corner, would be open seven days a week from 10am until midnight, apart from Sundays when it would close at 11pm.
Following a consultation a number of objections have been received by members of the public who fear that the bar would bring noise, disruption and an increase in anti-social behaviour to the area.
Scarborough Council’s licensing sub-committee will meet on Thursday July 8 to decide on the application.
North Yorkshire Police has not objected to the proposals.
Also included in the plans is a provision for up to five picnic benches to be placed outside the property to be used for patrons and smokers.
The time allowed for alcohol sales would be the same as the opening hours, the application adds, and on a number of days a year, including bank holidays, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve, the bar would be open until 2am.
The applicant also wants to play recorded music inside the venue.
A seperate application for a change of use for the building is currently going through the planning process.
