An investigation is underway after a crash at Grosmont Railway Station.

It happened yesterday and involved a diesel locomotive and a stationary set of carriages.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway says all passengers were taken off and transported back to Whitby with no serious injuries reported.

NYMR added:

"As with all such accidents, it's currently being investigated by the RAIB (Rail Accident Investigation Board). This weekend's Annual Steam Gala will go ahead as planned (Thurs 23rd to Sun 26th Sept), and we're pleased to announce that locomotive 'Tornado arrived this morning'.

"The carriages involved in the incident are now out of operation, which has impacted the railway’s services, and so we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel Pullman services between 23rd to 26th September.

"Those passengers booked to travel on a Pullman service will be contacted or emailed and bookings will either be transferred to another date or refunded.

"If you wish to contact us about your Pullman Booking please email info@nymr.co.uk"
