Greggs is looking to open its first store in Whitby.
The national bakery chain has identified the former Fultons Foods building in Station Square to make its foothold in the town.
Two planning applications have been lodged with Scarborough Borough Council to put up the company’s branding and to install external air conditioning units.
The company states in its application to the council: “Greggs plc is taking on the property at 16 Station Square, Whitby.
“Our proposals involve the retaining of the shopfront and entrance. Greggs will be repainting the windows and doors from blue to a more traditional grey colour.”
The application adds that the store will operate under Covid-19 safety precautions.
The plans are now out to consultation.
