Thousands of people are heading for Scarborough for the annual Goldwing Light Parade.

Last year, the free event attracted around 12,000 people and raised just under £10,000 for Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

The event features a parade of Goldwing motorcycles adorned in neon lights, which will cruise along Marine Drive from 8pm, lighting up Scarborough’s shoreline. A fireworks display is set to cap off the evening at 9.30pm.

Ahead of the main event, visitors can enjoy a static display of the stunning motorcycles on West Pier and Foreshore Road from 12pm to 4pm.

“You have to see it to believe it”

Event organiser Danielle Reed described the parade as a one-of-a-kind experience:

“The bikes themselves are fantastic. The effort, care and attention that goes into them has to be seen to be believed.

We’ve had riders from as far as Ireland and Germany—they're all lovely people.”

She hopes this year’s parade will surpass the £10,000 mark in donations for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, a service she says is “being called on more and more.”

“It is a charity that solely depends on donations and any money they receive goes to help save lives. I’ve met people who have been airlifted to safety thanks to them—it's incredibly moving.”
