The MP for Scarborough and Whitby is encouraging everyone to take up the offer of a Coronavirus vaccine.

Robert Goodwill has been reacting to so-called anti-vaxxers and scaremongering on social media.

He says he does not want people to risk dying through NOT having the jab.

Robert said:

"If anyone is nervous about having the vaccination then please, please understand that this could well save your life. It isn't Bill Gates trying to implant a microchip into your arm and it doesn't affect fertility. There's a lot of rubbish out there on the internet.

"Go and get the jab when you get a call to have it done, that won't only protect you, but it will protect others who may be can't respond to a vaccination or be suitable to have a vaccination, people like pregnant women for example. So it is very important not only for your own protection, but for the protection of the wider community.

"If you do feel tiredness or maybe very slight flu-like symptoms, I would take that to mean it's working and tour body is reacting to the vaccine. We had two people who had a response because of their allergy, we're not giving the Pfizer vaccine to people who have severe allergy reactions.

"The vaccine is safe. Please take the vaccine. The disease is not safe. Sadly, there may well be people who refuse the vaccine for some spurious reason from an idiotic person that's told them on the internet that they could get the disease, end up in intensive care and dead.

"I really don't want to have to explain to people's families that their stupidity in not having the vaccine could lead their death and it's as simple as that. I'm putting it very bluntly indeed because this is a matter of life and death. Get the vaccine. Don't listen to all the rubbish on the internet. Get the vaccine."
