Football's coming home, it's definitely coming home - that's according to the Chairman of Bridlington Town.

England are in action tonight at Wembley against Denmark, with a win putting them up against Italy in the final on Sunday.

Pete Smurthwaite says he's got a feeling this time round:

"Sometimes it ends up being your tournament or your cup run and I've picked up a few things as we've gone along.

For instance, we've had very few injuries, similar to, people will remember, 1966 when there was always nearly the same 11. They even had to leave Jimmy Greaves out, who was on of our top goalscorers."

Meanwhile, Pete says Gareth Southgate has proved himself good enough to be a future manager of Bridlington Town:

"He could always step up a level and come to us and then get us up to the same level as Scarborough and get those old derbies going again. It'd be wonderful, wouldn't it?"

Pete says this has been a great tournament for non-league clubs like his:

"Of the five games, we've been sold out in our Clubhouse four times. It's bringing in revenue that normally we wouldn't have had at this time of the year - and especially after Covid.

It's been absolutely massive, the atmosphere has been been absolutely fantastic and it's brough people along to the Club who've never been before, who might become fans of Bridlington Town."
