The Scarborough borough recorded a further 22 cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

It follows 13 cases added on Monday, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 1,206.

The borough’s seven-day infection rate per 100,000 people has increased slightly to 123.

Despite the rise, the borough is well below the average for England which stands at 219.

Today, a mobile testing facility will be at Scarborough’s Seamer Road park and ride site.

The testers will then be at the Whitby park and ride site in Guisborough Road tomorrow.

The testing has been organised by the Department of Health and Social Care which has warned people to not just turn up but make an appointment first.

There are two ways to do this depending on which testing group you are part of.

Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.

Tests can be booked at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.
