Further 14 New Covid-19 Cases Recorded In Scarborough Borough

A further 14 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Scarborough in the last 24 hours.

It brings the total of new infections to 65 since Saturday after an “IT error” meant more than 16,000 were not added to figures across the country.

Public Health England said 15,841 cases that had been recorded between 25 September and 2 October were left out of the UK daily case figures.

In order to bring the figures up to date, they were then added to Saturday’s and Sunday’s cases respectively giving daily figures of 12,872 and 22,961 new infections respectively.

The 14 new Scarborough cases brings the total amount to 829, an increase of 100 since Monday last week.

Before the lost cases were discovered government data showed that Scarborough’s cases were still trending upwards with a weekly average of 46.9 cases per 100,000.

While new weekly data has not yet been updated the borough’s seven-day rolling average of cases now stands at more than 12, the highest level since early May.

Two areas of Scarborough have seen the biggest spike in cases.

Ramshill and South Cliff had 18 confirmed cases in the seven days up to October 1.

Falsgrave had 10, Filey and Hunmanby ward had 9 and Whitby West had 7.
