A new food store in Whitby Business Park has been granted planning permission.

Food Warehouse, part of the Iceland Foods group, will be located in the vacant unit next to the town’s Aldi store.

Formed in 2014, The Food Warehouse is part of Iceland Foods, submitted an application to Scarborough Borough Council for a new entrance to the store.

The 16,000 sq ft building has been empty since it was built after plans for an M&S Foodhall were dropped in 2019.

Borough council planning officers have now granted planning permission under delegated powers after no objections were received.

Two other applications for new signs and a refrigeration unit for the site remain under consideration by the authority.
