It is all about Yorkshire today in Filey as the town celebrates Yorkshire DAY.

The Memorial Gardens will be the scene of an event at 11am.

There will be an address by the Town Crier, the raising of the Yorkshire Flag, a laying of a wreath and the national anthem.

David Liddle, Clerk at Filey Town Council, said:

"We try and fulfill the idealism that was put forward when Yorkshire Day was first done i.e. to raise the Yorkshire flag. There is a Yorkshire declaration of integrity which we make on that day and we also give out flags to children.

"At 2pm, we have a band concert at the bandstand and that concert, we try and get the band who's playing to have a Yorkshire theme to that.

"It's just a celebration of being part of Yorkshire and being Yorkshire men and women."
