The MP for Filey has invited Marcus Rashford to contribute to a government committee.

Kevin Hollinrake co-chairs the all-party group on Poverty and wants the footballer to come before it, to talk about his desire to extend the free school meals voucher scheme.

Marcus was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday honours at the weekend, in recognition of his campaign.

He was told off on Twitter by Marcus last month, after questioning the idea.

Kevin says it's not necessarily as simple as giving this benefit to everyone..

He said:

"I think the intention's right with what Marcus Rashford's proposing. I just want to make sure the delivery is what he intends it to be, because the wider you spread benefits, the less you can give to people in need - it's as simple as that.

We need to be mindful of the burden on the taxpayer, which I think is bound to go up to some extent anyway.

So, we've just got to make sure we direct our resources at those who are the very most at need.

I'm delighted to extend an open invitation to Marcus Rashford to come before our committee and present his ideas and perhaps we could ask questions about those ideas and make sure we're all on the same page."
