The RNLI launched both of Filey's lifeboats this afternoon after receiving reports of a person entering the sea near Speeton.

The inshore lifeboat was launched first, then in view of the poor weather conditions, it was decided to launch the larger all weather lifeboat as well to assist and provide shelter and cover for the smaller vessel.

Thankfully, the call-out turned out to be a false alarm, after the person was spotted walking away from the beach.

Both crews have been thanked by their bosses at the lifeboat station for their work in what was described as 'horrible conditions'.
