On Friday 7 May 2021, at 3.30pm, officers were called to a collision between a black Mercedes GLA and a red Peugeot 2008 on the A165, at the junction of the Grindale Road.

The driver and passenger of the Peugeot, a man and a woman in their 30s, sustained fatal injuries in the collision and died at the scene.

A child, travelling in the car, was taken to hospital as a precaution and suffered minor injuries.

The families of the deceased are being supported by specially trained officers.
