Eight More Coronavirus Cases in Scarborough
The new infections have been recorded in the borough over the last 24 hours.
A further eight coronavirus cases have been recorded in Scarborough in the last 24 hours.
The new cases, released last, night bring the area’s total since the start of the pandemic to 698 and means there have been 22 new infections since the weekend.
The data includes tests carried out in hospitals and also Pillar 2 tests, which is anyone tested at one of the mobile sites in the borough, or sent a test to take at home.
The borough’s seven day rolling average of cases has also started move back up. It now stands at 4.4 per day.
The news comes as North Yorkshire’s director of Public Health, Dr Lincoln Sargeant, warned that the borough was likely to remain as a coronavirus Area of Concern for at least another week.
Meanwhile, the drive-through coronavirus testing centre is at Whitby’s park and ride site today.
The testing has been organised by the Department of Health and Social Care, which has warned people to not just turn up, but make an appointment first.
There are two ways to do this, depending on which testing group you are part of.
Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
Key workers and members of their household should register for a test on the government website.
Tests can be booked at www.gov.uk/apply-coronavirus-test-essential-workers.
