Services changes at East Yorkshire Buses
Several changes to bus routes will come into effect from today
East Yorkshire Buses has made changes for some of its services which come into effect from today.
On the Yorkshire Coast, the X28 route, which went from Scarborough to Helmsley, has been withdrawn due to low levels of usage.
The Service 128 will run to a revised timetable instead running every two hours between those two towns.
The company says it is after a 'careful review of performances across the network.'
Ben Gilligan, Managing Director, said: "We've got a number of services that haven't recovered particularly well following the pandemic, some of which were performing quite poorly three years ago as well. We've taken a review of our network and we've made a number of changes that will see some service reductions in some parts but some improvements in others.
"There's clearly been a big move to people working from home but we've also seen a fairly large reduction in the number of older people who can use the bus for free. In addition to that, like many businesses, we've seen big cost increases with a big preportion of our costs are labour.
"We always review our network and I would say at the moment these changes probably are permanent. The process of reviewing our network is an on-going one and it's something typically once a year we'll make changes to services to reflect the opportunities as much as the need to potentially make savings in the business. We don't know what's around the corner."
