East Riding health bosses: It’s 'too soon' to lift plan B restrictions
Boris Johnson is considering whether they can be lifted
Despite the number of Coronavirus cases falling, numbers are still high in schools and hospitals according to health bosses in the East Riding.
It is as Downing Street say there are some encouraging signs that infections are dropping across the country.
Plan B restrictions are soon to expire on 26th January but Zoe Stevens, public health nurse consultant at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:
"We've seen a slight decrease in our infection rates in the last week, which is a good thing. However, we are still seeing very high numbers of this new variant in schools, care settings, workplaces and hospitals.
"I think it would be too early to lift plan B restrictions in terms of the numbers that we're seeing at the moment, although they've started to drop, we still know that somebody becoming infected to resulting in a hospital admission can still be up to 28 days. So from all the new year mixing - we're still not seeing the true reality or the true impact of how those numbers might impact on hospitalisations."
