East Riding family makes room in house to take in Ukraine refugees
We've been speaking to people in the county who have family in Ukraine
Tensions are continuing to run high for people in the East Riding whose family members are facing the war in Ukraine.
It remains a worrying time and we have been speaking to people in the county who are worried sick.
One of those is Lana Fenwick who has family currently in southern Ukraine. She said: "They destroyed everything. Everything. So my life now compared to before and after is a nightmare. I can't eat. I can't sleep. I worry about my family, my mum, my brother, his wife and my niece who should be getting married in August.
"Now she's doing volunteering in the war and her boyfriend. His parents are still there and are hiding at the moment in a basement.
"It's a long, long way and no-one can escape. They go to bomb shelters five to six times a day because all they have is a suitcase, legal documents, water and everything. They sleep with their clothes and shoes on to go down to the basement. It's a nightmare."
Her husband Peter has made room in their house ready to take in refugees: "We've made room. We've got friends who are going to put them up and the amount of support we've had has been phenomenal but the British Government has to do more to bring these people over."
