A two-day music festival is in its second year in honour of a former NHS worker from Scarborough.

Alan Crawford died in 2020 after contracting Covid and 'Crawfest' is being held at Partings Farm in Ebberston tomorrow (Friday 22nd July) and Saturday (23rd).

There will be lots of performances and activities to do with all money raised going to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Organiser Oliver Lord is a paramedic in Scarborough and was a friend and colleague of Alan.

He said: "He left behind a wife, two children and two sisters and so at the time we couldn't celebrate his life at his funeral, so I created a music festival in his memory really.

"It's a real family event. We've got a funfair for the kids, inflatables, craft tent, storytelling, a cinema tent, camping and all sorts of things for kids. Alan himself loved a band called 'Red Box', a big 80s pop band that featured on Top of the Pops and had hits on the charts. They're coming to do a set in memory of Alan.

"Alan was a very private man and his family are very private. His wife and his two daughters are coming to the festival for the first time this year, as they didn't feel able to come last year because of the emotive aspect of it all. This year, with a little bit of time since Alan's passing, they feel like they can come and enjoy it and enjoy the sentiment behind it.

"I work at Scarborough on the response car there and that's how I knew Alan. Alan worked at Scarborough station for a lot of years, nearly 20 years I think, and so I thought supporting the Yorkshire Air Ambulance was quite a fitting charity to be associated with and it's a great cause. They provide an amazing service and it's very expensive to run."
