Crawfest music festival near Scarborough in memory of paramedic who died from Covid
It's a family-friendly event in Ebberston
A music festival is being held near Scarborough in memory of a paramedic who died from Covid.
It is to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Combat Stress, a charity that supports veterans with PTSD.
It takes place tonight until Sunday at Partings Farm in Ebberston.
Ollie Lord is the organiser and a Scarborough paramedic. He said: "During Covid one of our colleagues, Alan Crawford, who'd worked at Scarborough for 20 years or so sadly contracted Covid and tragically lost his life in 2020. Alan loved music, it was one of his passions and in his memory I set up Crawfest.
"The first year was very much a lot of people that knew Alan but as it's grown, I can't speak for his family, but I think they don't want it to be about him, it's kind of a legacy in his name.
"You don't need to know about alan to enjoy the event. It's nice if people know the backstory but there's not a massive emphasis on that. It's like any local music festival, it's what it is but I suppose the people that know, know that it was created in his memory.
"Alan was a very private man and he'd probably be a bit embarrassed by all of this really and quite astounded really that it's all happened. I think it's more about it being a lovely music event and those that knew him know why it's named what it's named."
