Year 8 students at Bridlington School are being sent home today and tomorrow, because of rising Coronavirus cases.

The school says there aren't enough teachers or staff to accommodate them safely on-site.

It says pupils will be doing home learning and will hopefully be back in class on Wednesday.

It comes after Year 9s did the same thing for most of last week.

The school has this statement on its website:

"Due to staff absence we have had to take the difficult decision that our Year 8 students will be unable to attend school on Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd March, for the next two school days but will instead engage in home learning. We are hoping that staffing rates will have recovered sufficiently by Wednesday to welcome back Year 8 students and fully open the school. Details have been emailed in a letter to parents."
