Coronavirus Testing Back in Scarborough and Whitby
Last week, the borough saw 52 new cases added to its total, bringing the figure since the start of the pandemic to 729.
The drive-through coronavirus testing centre is back in Whitby and Scarborough this week for people with symptoms to get tested.
The facility is at Whitby’s park and ride site today and will also be back on Thursday.
In Scarborough, places will be available on Wednesday at the Seamer Road park and ride site.
Last week, the borough saw 52 new cases added to its total, bringing the figure since the start of the pandemic to 729. Of those 52 cases, 32 were tests carried out in the last seven days.
On Friday it was confirmed that the area remained as a Public Health England Area of Concern, due to its rising infection rate.
This week’s testing has been organised by the Department of Health and Social Care, which has warned people to not just turn up but make an appointment first.
There are two ways to do this, depending on which testing group you are part of.
Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/
People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
Key workers and members of their household should register for a test on the government website.
