Scarborough's Coronavirus rate rises again
The borough's seven-day infection rate has gone up since yesterday.
Scarborough’s Covid-19 infection rate has risen in the last 24 hours, as residents are being told that the picture could change daily.
The borough’s seven-day infection rate is now 134 cases per 100,000 people, up from 121 yesterday.
Over the last seven days, the borough has averaged 21 cases a day, after 33 new infections have been added in the last 24 hours.
It means that Scarborough’s infection rate remains just below the average for England, which is now 150.
The average rate for North Yorkshire is 103.
Speaking earlier this week, North Yorkshire’s director of Public Health, Dr Lincoln Sargeant, warned that as infection levels dropped the county’s districts would see their rates have more movement.
He said:
“As we come down in rates a certain amount of volatility is expected, so the numbers might vary a bit and I think the order of some of the districts might move around a little.
“But generally speaking most of the district in the same ballpark which is very positive.”
Scarborough, Selby and Craven have, at various points in the last week, had the highest rates in the county.
Tomorrow, mobile testing facilities will be available at Filey County Park in Filey and at Scarborough’s Seamer Road park and ride site.
Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site at William Street Coach Park is also offering testing seven days a week, from 8am until 8pm.
Appointments for all sites must be booked in advance.
