Infection rate drops again in Scarborough as tier to be announced
The borough's seven-day infection rate has fallen further, after 28 new cases in the last 24 hours.
Scarborough’s infection rate remains above the national average, as residents are set to find out what restrictions they will be living under when lockdown ends next week.
The Government is due to announce what Tiers each area will be placed in on December 2, sometime after 11.30am today.
Scarborough’s seven-day infection rate per 100,000 people is now 280 - down from 296 yesterday, after 28 new cases in the last 24 hours.
Two weeks ago Scarborough’s infection rate stood at 611, the second-highest in England.
Despite its rapid fall, Scarborough’s infection rate remains above the average for England, which is now 201.
The decision on what tier an area will be placed into will take into account a number of factors, including the infection rate, hospital admissions and capacity and the spread of the virus among different age groups.
Today, a mobile testing facility will be at Whitby’s Marina Car Park and Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site at William Street Coach Park is also offering testing seven days a week from 8am until 8pm.
Appointments must be booked in advance.
