Scarborough's Coronavirus rate falls slightly

Scarborough’s coronavirus infection rate has dropped, to the second lowest in North Yorkshire.
Despite the borough is averaging 59 cases every a day, over a seven day period, its seven-day infection rate per 100,000 people has fallen to 380, having stood at 391 yesterday.
Scarborough’s infection rate remains below the average for England, which is 608 and also the average for North Yorkshire, which is 444.
Only Ryedale in the county has a lower infection rate than Scarborough, at 329.
Richmondshire and Craven now have rates above 500 while the average for England now stands at 636.
Overnight, 66 new cases were added to the borough’s total.
Mobile testing sites will be in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey at different times during the week, for people with coronavirus symptoms to get tested.

Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site at William Street Coach Park is offering testing, seven days a week, from 8am until 8pm.
Appointments for all sites must be booked in advance.

People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
