Further 452 people with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire

The figures come from the Government's latest rolling figures that have been updated today

A further 452 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus across Hull and East Yorkshire today (Tuesday, December 21).

The Government’s latest rolling figures, updated today, show the number of infections recorded across the region was 1,386 for Hull and 1,749 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Thursday, December 16, the latest with weekly data available.

At least five cases linked to the Omicron variant have been confirmed in the East Riding, with an unknown number of suspected ones from Hull currently being tested, according to both councils’ public health teams.

The figures come as Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said there are no plans currently to introduce new coronavirus restrictions before the New Year.

He added the situation with Omicron cases remained under constant review while University of East Anglia Medicine Professor Paul Hunter warned restrictions in January would be too late.

The number of positive test results in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new positive test results in brackets.

Hull: 49,703 (+179)

East Riding of Yorkshire: 55,164 (+273)

Kingswood (1,105 cases per 100,000 people)

Bransholme West (967.9 cases per 100,000 people)

Cottingham East (937.2 cases per 100,000 people)

The local areas with the lowest Covid rates are

Bridlington Central (167.3 cases per 100,000 people)

Hull City Centre (180.2 cases per 100,000 people)

Goole East (294.8 cases per 100,000 people)

The number of deaths within 28 days of a positive test result in each area since the pandemic began is recorded below, with new deaths, and deaths removed from the total following revisions to past data, in brackets.

Hull: 740 (+ one, up five weekly up to Friday, December 10, 813 with coronavirus on death certificate)

East Riding of Yorkshire: 881 (+ one, up seven weekly up to Friday, December 10, 1,006 with coronavirus on death certificate)
