Coronavirus cases top 1,000 in Scarborough
It's after another 19 new infections in the borough were recorded over the weekend.
More than 1,000 cases of Covid-19 have now been recorded in Scarborough, since the beginning of the pandemic.
Over the weekend, 19 new cases were added to the borough’s total, which added to the 14 from Friday took the figure to 1,026.
It means that the borough recorded 92 cases last week, with the seven-day infection rate per 100,000 people up from 69 last Monday, to 90 today.
Despite the rise, the borough has once again got the lowest infection rate in the county and is well below the average for England which stands at 157.
Scarborough’s coronavirus infection rate peaked at more than 100 in the middle of last week.
Today, a mobile testing facility will be at the Guisborough Road park and ride site in Whitby before being open at Scarborough’s Seamer Road park and ride site on Wednesday.
The testers will then be back in Whitby on Thursday.
The testing has been organised by the Department of Health and Social Care which has warned people to not just turn up, but to make an appointment first.
There are two ways to do this, depending on which testing group you are part of.
