Scarborough Coronavirus cases top 4,500

However, the borough's seven-day infection rate has dropped again.

A further 38 new cases have been added to Scarborough’s coronavirus figures in the last 24 hours.

The new cases brings the borough’s total, since the start of the pandemic, to 4,517.

Scarborough’s seven-day infection rate per 100,000 people has once again dropped slightly, from 302 yesterday, to 281 today, though that remains more than double the rate of infection the borough was seeing before Christmas.

The average infection rate across North Yorkshire stands at 401 cases per 100,000 people.

Mobile testing sites will be in Whitby, Scarborough and Filey this week, for people with coronavirus symptoms to get tested.

Scarborough’s walk-in coronavirus testing site, at William Street Coach Park, is offering testing seven days a week, from 8am until 8pm.

Appointments for all sites must be booked in advance.

Anyone who is showing coronavirus symptoms should register for a test on the NHS website, at www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

People who do not have access to the internet, or who have difficulty with the digital portals, can ring the 119 service to book.
