There is concern the cost of living crisis is leading to more drivers will skip their MOT or not renew their car insurance.

North Yorkshire Police say they understand money is tight but there is no excuse for taking a dangerous vehicle out on the road.

TC John Hutchinson is part of the roads team at the force and tells us: "People say it's only an MOT, but if that MOT means that the vehicle isn't road worthy and they are involved in a crash then you have big problems. I suspect we will see more and more of it, I strongly suspect if the cost of living keeps going up I that cars will be one of the things forfeited by people and we will be there to pick up the pieces."
