Community food hub in Eastfield offers a 'safe space' for people in need
It's being run by Carers Plus Yorkshire
A community hub near Scarborough is helping bring people together over food especially during the cost of living crisis.
It is based in Eastfield and offers specific sessions for groups such as veterans as well as drop-ins.
Claire Robinson is from Carers Plus Yorkshire which runs it and she said: "Food is a great leveller and we all like a bit of food. When we sit down and start being sociable with food it distracts the mind so we can often talk about diffeernt things, get lots off our chests and find the support that we need in other aspects of our lives.
"Let's put something on so that any resident has something to do or somewhere to go during the week in case they feel a bit lonely, isolated or their confidence isnt high.
"The veterans meet for tea and toast, they love that and they come regularly. They have their own private session because they absolutely love just chatting with other people who've been in the forces and that camaraderie together is still there.
"Just come in and chat. There's no structure, there's no nothing. It's a lot about making new friends and just making sure that the door's open."
