Citizens Advice Bridlington seeks volunteers due to surge in demand
Many people are calling them worried about the cost of living and affording food and bills
Citizens Advice in Bridlington is desperately seeking volunteers amidst a huge surge in demand for its service.
It is as many people are worried about the cost of living and being able to afford food and bills.
The charity is needing help with signposting additional support and offering advice.
Helena Sinclair, service delivery manager at Citizens Advice in Bridlington, said: "If you came to see us in Bridlington it's very likely that it will be one of our volunteers. They also work on the phones and help people by email. With the cost of living crisis really starting to impact people, we're seeing demand hugely increase so we need more volunteers who'd like to help us out so we can give that help and the advice needed to the people who need it.
"We have admin roles, so if people want to get some customer service experience but another role that's hugely in demand is our advisor role. We would provide training initially so people can get the skills they would need to deliver it; so that would cover the enquiry areas like debt, benefits and housing.
"We would give them support to get their confidence up in talking to clients and knowing how to handle maybe difficult conversations, and then after that and they're comfortable, we would support them to start speaking to clients themselves and supoprting them on the phones and in-person. We don't look for any specific background experience, we take all sorts of different people."
