People in the Scarborough Borough are being warned to be extra careful over Christmas and to not forget the virus is still out there.
Restrictions will be eased for five days, allowing up to three households to mix from the 23th to the 28th of December.
Richard Webb, North Yorkshire County Council's Director of Health and Adult Services, said:
"Every individual makes a difference here and everyone has throughout the year. It's just as important now as it's ever been. There is this national debate now about Christmas and it re-emphasizes that point that this is a time to be cautious and to look after yourself and those you love.
"Just because you can mix, doesn't mean you should. Those rules around Christmas have been agreed and they've been very difficult decisions for the various Governments to come to. The situation in the county is much better than in many other places in England, but the virus is still out there.
"Our infection rate is static but we still need it to be coming down. This means the virus is still out there and everyday it is killing people in our county. Please take what steps you can to minimise your social contacts and to keep safe. Covid is the gift that none of us want on Christmas day."
