Could a baking competition near Scarborough today bring about a future winner of Junior Bake Off?

That could potentially be the case as an event for children up to 12 years-old is being held at Cayton Methodist Chapel.

It is one of a number of fundraisers in the village to help the church there.

Entries close at around midday.

Organiser Maggie Byrne said: "They'll be judged by ladies who can actually bake. We've got first and second place trophies for the little ones. First and second ones for the older ones and packet of sweets for any others. We don't know how many to expect.

"Please encourage your kids and bring them. It's going to be really good women that I've chainganged into doing the judging. It's £3 to enter and I'm hoping there's a lot but not too many."
